Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect data in the Mochi app. Please read it carefully before using the app.

1. Information We Collect#

• Permissions and local app data for core features:
  • HealthKit step count permission: used to read your daily step count and convert steps into map progress and in-App activity feedback.
  • Location permission: used only while the App is in use to show your position on the real map and generate nearby App points.
  • Notification permission: used to send focus-completion reminders and gentle daily reminders if you enable notifications.
  • Live Activity status: used to display an active focus timer on supported iOS system surfaces.
• Local App and preference data:
  • Pet name, pet progress, food item records, feeding progress, and related pet state.
  • Focus mode, focus timer state, focus streaks, focus-session counts, and focus feedback history.
  • Step-derived App progress, section progress, opened nearby-point IDs, discovery records, and real-map point cache data.
  • Onboarding completion, HealthKit sync preference, notification preference, location preference, and other small settings.
• System data processed by Apple services:
  • HealthKit step data is provided by Apple Health on your device after you grant permission.
  • Location data is provided by iOS Core Location after you grant permission.
  • Notification delivery and Live Activities are handled by iOS system services.

2. How We Use Data#

We use the collected information only for:

• running focus sessions and restoring active timers
• providing food items, streak progress, and pet progress
• syncing HealthKit step counts into map progress and walking feedback
• showing real-map features and nearby App points
• recording opened nearby points, discoveries, and map section progress
• saving pet, food item, focus, map, and preference state locally
• sending local focus-completion and daily reminder notifications when enabled
• displaying focus progress through Live Activities when supported
• improving stability and user experience through local product development and testing

We do not perform ad personalization or ad tracking. We do not collect IDFA.

3. Data Storage and Protection#

• The current version stores App state and preferences locally on your device using iOS storage mechanisms.
• HealthKit step totals are read from Apple Health only after you grant permission. Mochi does not write data to HealthKit.
• Your current location is used in memory while real-map features are active. The App may store local nearby-point IDs, generated nearby-point coordinates, and area cache records so nearby App points remain stable during use.
• Focus timer state, pet progress, food item records, discovery history, map progress, and permission preferences are stored locally so the App can restore your progress.
• Local data is protected by iOS device and app sandbox security mechanisms. Anyone with access to your unlocked device or device backups may be able to access App data through normal system mechanisms.
• We do not sell or rent your personal information.

4. Your Rights and Choices#

• You may stop using the App and delete local App data by deleting the App from your device, subject to iOS backup and restore behavior.
• You may manage HealthKit access in the Apple Health app or iOS Settings at any time.
• You may manage location permission, notification permission, and Live Activity settings in iOS Settings at any time.
• You may turn off HealthKit sync and notifications from within the App where available.
• You may rename your pet and adjust supported in-App preferences.
• If you revoke permissions, related features may stop working or become limited, but the App will continue to provide features that do not require those permissions where possible.

5. HealthKit Data#

5.1 Data Collection Scope#

When you enable HealthKit sync, Mochi requests read access to step count only. The App reads today's cumulative step count and converts step changes into App progress.

5.2 Purpose of Use#

HealthKit step data is used solely for:

• updating daily step progress
• advancing map sections
• updating walking-based activity feedback and nearby points
• maintaining a local baseline so the App can apply only new step deltas

5.3 Restrictions#

• Mochi does not use HealthKit data for advertising.
• Mochi does not sell HealthKit data.
• Mochi does not use HealthKit data for credit, insurance, employment, medical diagnosis, or treatment decisions.
• Mochi is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.

6. Location Data#

6.1 Data Collection Scope#

When you enable real-map features, Mochi may access your approximate or precise location while the App is in use, depending on the permission you grant in iOS.

6.2 Purpose of Use#

Location data is used solely for:

• centering the real map on your current area
• showing your position in the map view
• generating nearby App points
• determining whether you are close enough to mark a nearby point as opened

6.3 Storage#

• Mochi does not need to upload your current location to provide the current local real-map features.
• The App may store generated nearby-point IDs, generated nearby-point coordinates, opened nearby-point IDs, and area cache snapshots locally on your device.
• Daily opened-point records and generated point cache records may reset or refresh according to App rules.

7. Notifications and Live Activities#

• If you enable notifications, Mochi may schedule local notifications for focus completion and gentle daily reminders.
• Notification content is generated locally and delivered through iOS notification services.
• If supported and enabled by the system, Mochi may start a Live Activity to display focus timer progress on the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, or other iOS surfaces.
• You can manage notification and Live Activity permissions in iOS Settings.

8. Third-Party Services#

• The current version relies on Apple system frameworks and services, including HealthKit, Core Location, MapKit, UserNotifications, ActivityKit, and App Store distribution.
• These services are governed by Apple's terms and privacy policies.
• The current version does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not perform ad tracking.
• If future versions introduce analytics, crash reporting, cloud sync, account systems, subscriptions, or other third-party services, we will disclose the relevant data practices in this policy or in the App.

9. Children's Privacy#

• Mochi is designed as a gentle lifestyle and companion app, but it is not specifically directed to children.
• Minors should use the App under the supervision of their legal guardians.
• Guardians may manage device permissions, delete the App, or contact us with privacy-related questions.

10. Data Retention#

• Local App and preference data remains on your device until deleted, reset, replaced by App rules, removed by iOS, or removed when you delete the App.
• HealthKit step baselines and step-derived progress are stored locally as part of App state.
• Location-derived point cache and opened-point records are stored locally as part of real-map features and may be refreshed by daily or area-based App rules.
• If cloud services or account features are added in the future, retention rules for server-side data will be disclosed before or when those features become available.

11. International Use#

If you use the App outside the jurisdiction where Overio operates, you understand that Apple platform services, device settings, and applicable privacy rights may vary by region. We will handle privacy requests according to applicable law.

12. Changes to This Policy#

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes may be announced via in-App notices, App Store release notes, or our official website. Continued use of the App after an update indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
